Trifecta Challenge: Scary Things

I'm still pressed for time lately and haven't been able to contribute to the Trifecta challenge the way I'd like, but today they wanted 33 words on what scares us or our characters most. My entry is auto-biographical and the thing I worry about on a daily (if not hourly basis). I hope I don't depress everybody.

*******************************************************************

I’m not scared of death. Not my death anyway. I’m scared of my daughter’s, that it will happen while I’m still alive, that I’ll see it, that it will be like my son’s.
********************************************************************
So, there you go. Just a snippit of what's on my mind pretty much all the time.  Would you like a palate cleanser? Do puppies work?

I have no proper words. As the mother of an only child, I do fear her passing before I do.
And the devastation it would bring to me.

Thank you for your kind words.

I think everyone feels that. Good one!

I am so sorry for your loss, for that fear that you carry in your heart.

I think as parents we all have that, but for you to know it, well it has me wiping tears.

I worry that I'll be a young widow often, my mom and both grandmothers were and I hate thinking something like that is genetic. And then the infertility that racked my life for years...yes, I am scared of losing my sons or husband often.

I wish there was something I could say, but I am here, in the internet, telling you that you are not alone and sending prayers up with your own.

You guys are making me tear up. Thank you so much for the kind sentiments.

Kir, before I had children, I worried about losing my husband almost constantly, now all that worry is on my child, and how devastated I'd be If I lost my daughter how I lost my son.

I am so sorry for your loss. You fear what has already happened (to your son) repeating itself.

Here is what I have been taught: the thing you fear THE MOST is what you draw to you. STOP FEARING IT. Enjoy what you have right now, that is all you can control anyway. (Easier said than done, I know.)

Good luck. You are stronger than you think.

best,
MOV

A pain I cannot understand as a non-parent. Wow.

"That it will be like my son's" made my heart drop. I fear for my childrens' survival, but I have not felt the loss of a child. I'm so sorry you have.

like my son
Such devastation.
You have my deepest sympathy. And my best advice, which is to relish every moment with your daughter.

I don't think there is a more painful loss than the loss of a child. I am so sorry you have felt that pain.

I can say nothing about such grief. Your writing is powerful and presents that raw emotion well.

That is scary for anyone with a young person in there lives. I would hate to outlive my nephews and niece. To see the look of pain in the eyes of my sister and brothers. Such grief!

I have no word! I want to comfort you but I don't think I can say anything useful.
Your text is very well written by the way.

I can't imagine the grief you must have felt or the fear that remains. This is such a beautiful and powerful piece. Thank you for sharing it with us. And also for the puppy relief!

This is every parent's biggest fear. I'm so sorry for your loss, which makes that fear even stronger. xoxo

I totally get this. I think I probably pray every day asking God to PLEASE let me go before my kids, especially since my little one presses the luck on a daily basis.

Heartfelt - and thoroughly communicated. A fear that all parents share, but to have experienced it once and...

I'm sorry, I have no words to express the feeling inside.
